CV Heap

Rev. 001 · not yet public

You are more than a condensed summary of job tasks.

Most job platforms match on keywords too. That is the problem, not the fix. CV Heap starts from the work you actually did.

What’s Broken

Exhibit A · one application, as the filter read it

Elena Duarte

Guest relations manager · 6 yrs

Rebuilt the complaints process after a supplier failure, cutting repeat escalations by half.

Trained eleven people to hold a service standard nobody was checking.

Reporting done in Excel PowerBI

Talked down a guest who had been shouting at reception for twenty minutes, then wrote the script the team still uses.

Degree: BA, 2.9 GPA. 2.9 < 3.5 — out

Example CV. Not a real applicant.

Auto-reject

An invented CV. The lines describing the work are struck through because a keyword filter discards them. The words it keeps are highlighted.

Five fields decided it. None was the work.

Everything struck through is the part that made her good at the job. The filter never saw it, because the only things cheap to compare are a title, a number and a named tool.

So people send more, because more feels like the only lever left. It is not a lever. A wider spread produces a worse match, every time, for the applicant and for whoever is reading the pile.

What the filter asked

  • Candidate lists PowerBI? yes
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher? no
  • Exact title match? no

Result: never read by a person.

How It Works

Scoring sheet · the same questions, asked of everyone

A hairdresser manages hostile customers under pressure, holds quality steady across a long day, and rebuilds trust after someone else’s mistake. So does a guest relations manager. So does anyone in HR handling a grievance. The titles share nothing. The work shares most of it.

Where You Start

Blank page · yours to fill

Our scoring system only knows about the work you have described in writing. This is the opposite of condensing everything you have ever done into a machine-readable form. This is your career, and your story.

A résumé is one page, rewritten for every single employer, catered to what that business needs from you. Done properly it is the long, tedious, unglamorous part of applying, and it never really finishes.

A work journal is the opposite. It is relaxed. You write down what you did while you still remember it: the problem, what you tried, what it cost, what changed because of it.

The service is not ready yet. The journal is, and it needs nothing from us.

Your journal is the story you want to tell.
